The World Buddhist Sangha Youth ( WBSY ) was founded and arranged the inauguration meeting on February 8 , 2004 at Katmandu , Nepal. Monk representatives from the three main Buddhist schools of thought , viz , Theravada , Mahayana and Vajrayana from Japan , Sri Lanka , New Zealand , Nepal , Bhutan , India , Mongolia and Thailand participated. The main objective of such a body is to create a global network among the Sangha Youth and the world. The first Executive Board meeting was held at wat Sanghathan Nonthaburi , Thailand from 17 – 20 May , 2004 where important issues were discussed and the Constitution of the World Buddhist Sangha youth Drafted.
The first General Conference was held at Buddhagaya , India from 6 - 8 November 2004

WORLD BUDDHIST SANGHA YOUTH
INTRODUCTION
The World Buddhist Sangha Youth was formed last year. The main objective is to provide an avenue for young Buddhist monks and nuns who heed the advice of the Noble Teacher , the Buddha to carry out Dhammaduta work , meet , exchange ideas and thoughts , share their experiences and remain focused to spreading the Noble Truth. The essence of world peace in this modern world has been the point of discussion in many world seminars and conventions. There is no denying that the prime essence of world peace is religious unity and harmony.
Mankind has been given the choice to believe and follow a religion or way of life. And as long as a person is born and has a mind of his own , there is no one who has the right to take that choice away. As mankind gets wiser , there can never be a time when the whole world will come to agree on the superiority of one particular religion . Even within the same religion , there are various school of thought and belief. There solution than to provide a common platform to deliberate and discuss on conflicting issues intelligently and wisely. At the end of the day , regardless of religious belief or through , each and everyone will have to compromise by practicing patience tolerance and understanding to have a peaceful life for all , here and now.
In the Buddhist community , there is no difference. There are various schools of thought or denominations. They are not different groups but merely various group practicing and following the Teachings of the Buddha, i.e. the ultimate goal of Nibbana , the end of suffering.
The World Buddhist Sangha Youth’s role is to provide an opportunity for young monks and nuns from the various traditions the opportunity to come together. This is a perfect example of the Buddhist spirit of all for one and one for all. The theme of the second General Conference this year ; Unity and Religious harmony’ is most apt considering the senseless killing and suffering inflicted on humans by humans in the name of religion. Not only are they caused by people of different religions but by people of the same religion.

OBJECTIVES and AIMS
The Objectives and aims are :
to develop Buddhist Youth organizations and exchange of Buddhist Sangha Youth worldwide ,
to assist Buddhist Sangha Youth to carry out Dhammaduta youth activities throughout the world ,
to enhance harmony and relationship among the Sangha youth of different traditions,
to protect the Buddhist Sangha youth of the world from all forms of obstacles they might have to face ,
to develop the Buddhist Sangha youth through education and welfare ,
to develop Buddhayana in the world without discriminating between Theravada , Mahayana , Vajrayana or other denominations / traditions and to encourage unity in the world Buddhist Sangha youth ,
to protect and develop the identifying features of each Buddhist monastic denomination / tradition,
to bring the world Buddhist Sangha youth members together annually to discuss support for underdeveloped countries , to determine the matters of priority and to take action to support those countries.
Towards these goals , the World Buddhist Sangha Youth will have the opportunity to :
01. deepen the relationship between monastic youth individuals and the Buddhist youth groups from different countries ,
02. publicize useful news concerning international monastic Sangha youth of Buddhist non – profit organizations amongst the members.
03. promote the World Buddhist Sangha Youth to the World Buddhist Sangha youth members, Buddhist priests and non profit organizations ,
04. do all things necessary , incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
